Tinigiin Akko isaa wajjiin jirta.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.

Tingi vivía con su abuela.


Ishee wajjiin saawan eega ture.

He used to look after the cows with her.

Cuidaba a las vacas con ella.


Gaftokko rayaan dhufee ture.

One day the soldiers came.

Un día llegaron los soldados.


Rayaan sun saawan fudhatan.

They took the cows away.

Se llevaron las vacas.


Tinigiifi akkoon isaa fiigani dhokatan.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.

Tingi y su abuela huyeron para esconderse.


Hamma halkana’uti daggala kessaa dhokatan.

They hid in the bush until night.

Sanaa booda rayaan nideebi’an.

Then the soldiers came back.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.

They crept home very quietly.
