Obbolessi koo xiinaan hamma guyaati rafa. Ani nama cimaa waanan ta’eef ganamanan ka’a!

My little brother sleeps very late. I wake early, because I am great!

Ani nama addu heyamaa kennu dha.

I am the one who lets in the sun.

“At Urjii ganamaa kooti” jette harmeen kiyya.

“You’re my morning star,” says Ma.

Ufumafan dhiqadhaa nama biraa hinbarbaadu.

I wash myself, I don’t need any help.

Bishaan qabbana’a fi folii saamunan hinsodadhu.

I can cope with cold water and blue smelly soap.

Harmeen, “ilkaan kee hindagatin nanjetti” Anis immo, “Lakki, gonkumayyu!”

Ma reminds, “Don’t forget teeth.” I reply, “Never, not me!”

Saana boodaa akakkayuu fi aadaada koon naga gaafadha.

After washing, I greet Grandpa and Auntie, and wish them a good day.

Sanaa booda uffata kook nanufadha.” Ani amma goddadheera harmee” jedhan.

Then I dress myself, “I’m big now Ma,” I say.

Kophee hidhaachufi qulfii qulfachuu nandanda’aa.

I can close my buttons and buckle my shoes.

Sanaa booda wa’ee mana barnoota obbolessa kooti hima.

And I make sure little brother knows all the school news.

Kutaa kessatis akka garidhanan barnoot koo hordofa.

In class I do my best in every way.

Guyyaa hundaa wantoota garii kanan hojadha. Kessumaa garuu kubbaa milaa taphachuun jalladha!

I do all these good things every day. But the thing I like most, is to play and play!
