One day, mama got a lot of fruit.
Loron ida, mama iha ai-fuan barak.
Um dia, a mamãe trouxe imensa fruta.
“When can we have some fruit?” we ask.
“We will have the fruit tonight,” says mama.
“Bainhira mak ita han ai-fuan balun?” Ami husu. “Ita sei han ai-fuan iha kalan ne’e,” mama dehan.
“Quando podemos comer alguma fruta?,” perguntámos. “Vamos comer fruta esta noite,” disse a mamãe.
My brother Rahim is greedy. He tastes all the fruit. He eats a lot of it.
Ha’u nia maun Rahim kaan-teen. Nia koko hotu ai-fuan ida-idak. Nia han ai-fuan barak.
O meu irmão Rahim é ganancioso.
Provou a fruta toda e comeu muita fruta.
“Look at what Rahim did!” shouts my little brother.
“Rahim is naughty and selfish,” I say.
“Haree saída mak Rahim halo ona!” Ha’u nia alin ki’ik hakilar. “Rahim ne’e nakar no egoista,” ha’u dehan.
“Vejam o que o Rahim fez”, gritou o meu irmão mais novo. “O Rahim é malandro e egoísta,” disse eu.
Mother is angry with Rahim.
Mama hirus Rahim.
A mamãe ficou zangada com o Rahim.
We are also angry with Rahim. But Rahim is not sorry.
Ami mós hirus Rahim. Maibé Rahim la sente nia sala.
Nós também ficamos zangados com o Rahim.
Mas o Rahim não se arrependeu.
“Aren’t you going to punish Rahim?” asks little brother.
“Mama sei la fó kastigu ba Rahim ka?” Alin ki’ik husu.
“Não vai castigar o Rahim?”, disse o irmão mais novo.
“Rahim, soon you will be sorry,” warns mama.
“Rahim, lakleur o sei sente sala,” mama fó hanoin.
“Rahim, vai se arrepender em breve,” disse a mamãe.
Rahim starts to feel sick.
Rahim hahú sente moras.
O Rahim não está se sentindo muito bem.
“My tummy is so sore,” whispers Rahim.
“Ha’u nia kabun moras liu,” Rahim bisu-bisu.
“Dói muito a minha barriga,” murmura Rahim.
Mama knew this would happen. The fruit is punishing Rahim!
Mama hatene ida ne’e sei akontese. Ai-fuan mak kastigu hela Rahim!
A mamãe sabia que isto ia acontecer. A fruta está castigando Rahim!
Later, Rahim says sorry to us. “I will never be so greedy again,” he promises.
And we all believe him.
Hafoin, Rahim husu deskulpa mai ami. “Ha’u sei la kaan-teen tan,” nia promete. No ami hotu fiar nia.
Mais tarde, Rahim nos pediu desculpa. “Não vou voltar a ser tão ganancioso,” prometeu.
E nós acreditamos.
