Tingi waxuu la noolaa ayaydiis hooyo.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.

Tingi vivía con su abuela.


Waxuu lo’da la raaci jiray ayada.

He used to look after the cows with her.

Cuidaba a las vacas con ella.


Maalin ayaa waxaa yimid askartii.

One day the soldiers came.

Un día llegaron los soldados.


Waxay kaxaysteen lo’dii.

They took the cows away.

Se llevaron las vacas.


Tingi iyo ayaydiis way carareen waa ayna dhuunteen.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.

Tingi y su abuela huyeron para esconderse.


Waxay isku qariyeen duurka ilaa iyo habeenkii.

They hid in the bush until night.

Se escondieron en el monte hasta la noche.


Kadib askartii ayaa dib ugu soo labteen.

Then the soldiers came back.

Ayaydii waxa ay Tingi ku qarisay caleemaha hoostooda.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.

They crept home very quietly.
