Ndrí ‘ɨ, Òcó ‘ɨ àzɨ ́nɨ Tí pɨ yɨ ndráa ágyí àzɨ ́ àmbó nɨ. O’dú àlʉ yɨ mu àcìá tákísɨ ̀sɨ ̀.

Goat, Dog, and Cow were great friends. One day they went on a journey in a taxi.

When they reached the end of their journey, the driver asked them to pay their fares. Cow paid her fare.

Walipofika mwisho wa safari yao, dereva aliwaomba walipe nauli zao. Ng’ombe alilipa nauli yake.

Òcó fè séndè àmbó nɨ ‘ɨ ́ séndè nyɨ ́rɨ ́ nɨ ́ ovʉzʉ́ èrɨ vʉ́ ‘yo rɨ ̀sɨ ̀

Dog paid a bit extra, because he did not have the correct money.

The driver was about to give Dog his change when Goat ran away without paying anything.

Dereva alipokaribia kumpa Mbwa chenji yake, Mbuzi alitoroka bila kulipa chochote.

Àwókó nya dɨ ́ dèrévà mà alé sǎàrʉ́ ànɨ ́ ko drì nzʉ́ mʉ̀tʉ̀kárɨ ̀ be òcó mà séndè mà jólókó omvɨ kókòrʉ́.

The driver was very annoyed. He drove away without giving Dog his change.

Dereva alikasirika sana. Aliondoka bila kumrudishia Mbwa chenji yake.

E’yó ‘dɨ ̀sɨ ̀, kpere àndrʉ̀ òcó nɨ ̀ nzʉ mʉ̀tʉ̀kárɨ ̀ vʉ́álêrʉ́ lèzʉ́ ti sʉzʉ́ mʉ̀tʉ̀kárɨ ̀ mà alé àlùzʉ́ dèrévà ándráa múpɨ ‘ɨ ́mà séndè be rɨ ̀ ndàzʉ́.

That is why, even today, Dog runs towards a car to peep inside and find the driver who owes him his change.

Goat runs away from the sound of a car. She is afraid she will be arrested for not paying her fare.

Mbuzi hukimbia anaposikia mlio wa gari. Anaogopa atakamatwa kwa kutolipa nauli.

Tí asɨ ́ ɨ ́nɨ ̌ ‘ɨ ́mà kʉ mʉ̀tʉ̀kárɨ ̀ ngòlé nɨ kà tró emú nɨ ̀ tɨ ́. Èrɨ ‘ɨ ́mà sâ ‘du nzɨ ̀lá mà drɨ ̀ agazʉ́ à’dʉsɨ ̀kʉnɨ nɨ ̀rá kɨ ́nɨ ̀ ‘ɨ ́ òfè ndráa ‘ɨ ́ vɨ ́lé mʉ̀tʉ̀kárɨ ̀ ma àjè wóró rá.

And Cow is not bothered when a car is coming. Cow takes her time crossing the road because she knows she paid her fare in full.
