One day, mama got a lot of fruit.

“When can we have some fruit?” we ask.
“We will have the fruit tonight,” says mama.
ہم کچھ پھل کب کھا سکتے ہیں؟ ہم نے پوچھا۔ ہم آج رات کو پھل کھائیں گے۔ امی نے کہا۔

My brother Rahim is greedy. He tastes all the fruit. He eats a lot of it.
میرا بھائی رحیم لالچی ہے۔ وہ سب پھل چکھتا ہے۔ وہ بہت پھل کھاتا ہے۔

“Look at what Rahim did!” shouts my little brother.
“Rahim is naughty and selfish,” I say.
دیکھو رحیم نے کیا کیا؟ میرا چھوٹا بھائی چلایا۔ رحیم بہت شرارتی اور خود غرض ہے، میں نے کہا۔

Mother is angry with Rahim.
امی رحیم سے ناراض ہیں۔
Mother is angry with Rahim.
We are also angry with Rahim. But Rahim is not sorry.
ہم بھی رحیم سے ناراض ہیں لیکن رحیم تھوڑا سا بھی شرمندہ نہیں ہے۔

“Aren’t you going to punish Rahim?” asks little brother.
کیا تم رحیم کو سزا نہیں دے رہے؟ چھوٹے بھائی نے پوچھا۔

“Rahim, soon you will be sorry,” warns mama.
ماں نے خبردار کیا ‘رحیم، جلد ہی آپ سے معافی مانگے گا۔’

Rahim starts to feel sick.
رحیم بیمار محسوس کرنے لگتا ہے۔

“My tummy is so sore,” whispers Rahim.
میرے پیٹ میں درد ہے، رحیم چلایا۔

Mama knew this would happen. The fruit is punishing Rahim!
امی جانتی تھیں کہ یہ ہو گا۔ پھل رحیم کو سزا دے رہے ہیں۔

Later, Rahim says sorry to us. “I will never be so greedy again,” he promises.
And we all believe him.
بعد میں رحیم نے معافی مانگی۔ میں کبھی دوبارہ لالچ نہیں کروں گا اُس نے وعدہ کیا۔ اور ہم سب نے اُس پر بھروسہ کر لیا۔
Later, Rahim says sorry to us. “I will never be so greedy again,” he promises.
And we all believe him.
