Mein kleiner Bruder schläft lange. Ich wache früh auf weil ich toll bin.

My little brother sleeps very late. I wake early, because I am great!

Ich bin diejenige, die die Sonne herein lässt.

I am the one who lets in the sun.

„Du bist mein Morgenstern“, sagt Ma.

“You’re my morning star,” says Ma.

“Yu a fi mi maanin star,” mama se.


Ich wasche mich. Ich brauche keine Hilfe.

I wash myself, I don’t need any help.

Mi bied miself, mi no waahn no elp.


Ich kann mit kaltem Wasser und der blauen, riechenden Seife umgehen.

I can cope with cold water and blue smelly soap.

Ma erinnert mich: „Vergiss Deine Zähne nicht.“ Ich antworte: „Niemals, ich doch nicht!“

Ma reminds, “Don’t forget teeth.” I reply, “Never, not me!”

Mama rimain mi se, “Dohn figet fi brosh yu tiit dem.” Mi ansa se, “Neva, no mii!”


Nach dem Waschen grüße ich Opa und Tante und wünsche ihnen einen schönen Tag.

After washing, I greet Grandpa and Auntie, and wish them a good day.

Afta mi bied, mi tel granpaa an anti maanin, an fi av a nais die.


Dann ziehe ich mich an. „Ich bin nun groß, Ma“, sage ich.

Then I dress myself, “I’m big now Ma,” I say.

Den mi put aan mi kluoz bai miself, “mi big nou mama,” mi se.


Ich kann meine Knöpfe zumachen und meine Schnürsenkel binden.

I can close my buttons and buckle my shoes.

Ich sorge dafür, dass mein kleiner Bruder alle Neuigkeiten aus der Schule erfährt.

And I make sure little brother knows all the school news.
