Nkuku, Joongola Chicken and Millipede Inkoko ne Ciyongoli

Nkuku a joongola zyakalikumvwana. Nokuba boobo bakalikuyanda kuzundana bunji bwaziindi. Bumwi buzuba bakayeeya kuti baume bbola kutegwa bazyibe kuti mukali nguni akati kabo.

Chicken and Millipede were friends. But they were always competing with each other. One day they decided to play football to see who the best player was.

Inkoko ne Ciyongoli fyali fibusa. Nomba lyonse bale cinfyanayafye. Bushiku bumo, baile mukuteya umupila wakumakasa pakuti bamone uwingacinfya umunankwe.


Bakaunka nkobasobanina bbola yamaulu mpoona bakatalika musobano wabo. Nkuku yakali kweenda, pele joongola lyakali kweendesya.  Nkuku yakabbakela bbola kule, pesi joongola lyakaindilizya kubbakela aaka bbakelela Inkuku. Inkuku yakatalika kulimvwa kutyompwa.

They went to the football field and started their game. Chicken was fast, but Millipede was faster. Chicken kicked far, but Millipede kicked further. Chicken started to feel grumpy.

Baile kucibansa camupila nokwamba ukuteya. Inkoko yali iya angukilwa nomba iciyongoli calyangukishe ukucilapo. Inkolo epakupantila ukutali nomba iciyongoli tepakupantisha ukucilapo. Inkoko epakwamba ukunfwa ububi.


Bakayanda kuti baume mapenaauti. Joongola nguwasanguna kuya mugoolo. Inkuku yakanywisya biyo bbola yomwe. Mpoonya ono cakasika ciindi cakuti inkuku ayalo ijate bbola mugoolo.

They decided to play a penalty shoot-out. First Millipede was goal keeper. Chicken scored only one goal. Then it was the chicken’s turn to defend the goal.

Efyo. batile katupantefye iyakwingisha mufipanda. Iciyingoli ecabalilepo ukuya mucipanda. Inkoko yaingishako kamo. Epakucinjana pakuti inkoko nayo iyemucipanda.


Njoongola wakiibbakela bbola akunywisya. Joongola wakanyunya akunywisya. Joongola wakayuumya mutwe bbola akunywisya. Eelyo joongola antoomwe wakanywisya magoolo osanwe.

Millipede kicked the ball and scored. Millipede dribbled the ball and scored. Millipede headed the ball and scored. Millipede scored five goals.

Iciyongoli epakupanta nokwingisha. Iciyongoli calafyanya nokwingisha. Iciyongoli epakusenda umupila nokuya ingisha. Iciyongoli caingisha utukato tusano.


Nkuku yakanyema akaambo kakuzundwa. Yakazundwa cibyaabi. Joongola wakagwetemuka kuseka mweenzinyina akaambo kambuli mbwaakalikulibonya ameso.

Chicken was furious that she lost. She was a very bad loser. Millipede started laughing because his friend was making such a fuss.

Inkoko epakufulwa ukuti yalusa. Pantu yalilusa ububi sana. Iciyongoli epakwamba ukuseka umunankwe pakuilishanya.


Yakanyema Nkuku mpoonya yakajula mulomo akumumena joongola.

Chicken was so angry that she opened her beak wide and swallowed the millipede.

Inkoko yalifulwa sana epakwamba ukusonsobola iciyongoli nokucilya.


Nkuku mbuli mbuyakali kweenda kuya kumunzi, bakaswaangana abanyina joongola. “Sena wamubona mwanaangu joongola?” bakabuzya banyina. Inkuku kunyina nciyakaamba nociba comwe.

As Chicken was walking home, she met Mother Millipede. Mother Millipede asked, “Have you seen my child?” Chicken didn’t say anything. Mother Millipede was worried.

Cilya inkoko ileya kung’anda epakukumanya nyina waciyongoli. Nyina waciyongoli epakwipusha, “Naumonako umwana wandi?” Inkoko tayaaswike nangu cimo. Nyina waciyonoli tepakusakamana.


Kabacili antoomwe banyina joongola bakamvwa kajwi kasyoonto kakalila kuti, “Amundigwasye baama!” Banyina joongola bakazibauka koonse-koonse cakubikkila maanu. Kajwi kakali kulimvwisya kuzwida mwida lyankuku.

Then Mother Millipede heard a tiny voice. “Help me mom!” cried the voice. Mother Millipede looked around and listened carefully. The voice came from inside the chicken.

Elyo nyina waciyongoli aunfwile akalishiwi akanono. “Mutule mayo!” Nyina waciyongoli ekulolesha lolesha no kunfwikisha. Ishiwi lyalefuma mumala yankoko.


“Belesya nguzu zyako zyandeene mwanaangu!” Bakamponzomoka banyina joongola. Majoongola alabamba kanunko kamwi kaya kabi alimwi akupa kubija mukanwa. Inkuku yakatalika kumvwa bubi, kumvundaukwa kumoyo.

Mother Millipede shouted, “Use your special power my child!” Millipedes can make a bad smell and a terrible taste. Chicken began to feel ill.

Nyina waciyongoli epakupunda, “bonfya amaka yobe mwana wandi!” Iciyongoli limo cilanunka ububi sana, nokunfwika ifibi mukanwa. Inkoko epakwamba ukunwa ukulwala.


Inkuku limwi yakatimfuka, “vuuu,” mpoonya yamena alimwi akuswida. Alimwi yakakola alimwi yakeesyamuka, utesyeee!  Joongola lyakalikusesemya! Kamunyongana kanunko, takali kakusobanina pe.

Chicken burped. Then she swallowed and spat. Then she sneezed and coughed. And coughed. The millipede was disgusting!

Inkoko epekubukula. Elya yaisa mina nokufwisa futi. Yaisa tesula nokukola, nakabili yakoka. Iciyongoli waliyunfwisha ubunani.


Yakakola nkuku kusikila liwi yakola joongola kuzwa mwida. Banyina joongola alimwi amwana bakasweemuka selelele kutanta mucisamu akuyuba.

Chicken coughed until she coughed out the millipede that was in her stomach. Mother Millipede and her child crawled up a tree to hide.

Inkoko epakukola mpaka yakola iciyongoli icali mumala. Nyina waciyongoli nommwana wakwe efyo bakulike nokunina icimuti emobabelama.


Kuzwa ciindi eeco, majoongola alimwi ankuku tazilyatani.

From that time, chickens and millipedes were enemies.

Ukufuma apopena inkoko nefiyongoli fyalipatana.
