I peel the potatoes.

Mpala Imfyumbu.

Ndatenda kkabicci.

I chop a cabbage.

Mputaula kabeci.

Ndatenda makkalutu.

I grate the carrots.

Nseesa kalota.

Ndasanzya nyabo.

I wash the beans.

Nsamfya cilemba.

Ndatenda zyitende.

I cut the butternut.

Mputula utupushi.

I chop the spinach.

Baama batenda hanyisi.

My mom chops the onions.

Bamaayo baputula onyoni.

Hanyisi undipa kulila noutendwa.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.
