أَنَا أُقَشِّرُ البَطَاطَا.

Ninamenya viazi.

I peel the potatoes.


أَنَا أَقَطَعُ المَلْفُوفَ.

Ninakatakata kabichi.

I chop a cabbage.


أَنَا أَبْشُرُ الجَزَرَ.

Ninasaga karoti.

I grate the carrots.


أَنَا أَغْسِلُ الفَاصُولِيَا.

Ninaosha maharagwe.

I wash the beans.


أَنَا أقْطَعُ الجَوْزَ.

Ninakata maboga.

I cut the butternut.


أَنَا أَفْرُمُ السَّبَانِخَ.

Ninakatakata sukuma-wiki.

I chop the spinach.


أُمِّي تَفْرُمُ البَصَلَ.

Mama yangu anakatakata vitunguu.

My mom chops the onions.


البَصَلُ يَجْعَلُنِي أَبْكِي عِنْدَمَا يَبْشُرُونَهُ.

Vitunguu hunifanya nilie vikiwa vinakatwakatwa.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.
