Tingi lived with his grandmother.


O ne a disa dikgomo le mmemogolo.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Letsatsi lengwe masolo a tla.

One day the soldiers came.


Ba tsaya dikgomo.

They took the cows away.


Tingi le mmemogolo wa gagwe ba sia ba ya go itshuba.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Ba ya go itshuba mo sekgweng go fitlhela bosigo.

They hid in the bush until night.


Masole ba boa ba tla.

Then the soldiers came back.


Mmemogolo a shuba Tingi ka fa tlase ga makakaba.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Mongwe wa masole a gata fa o ishubileng teng, mme a itidimalela.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


E rile go sirelegile, Tingi le mmemogolo wa gagwe ba tswa mo sekgweng.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Ba nanabela ka tidimalo kwa gae.

They crept home very quietly.
