这是卡莱。她今年七岁。在肯尼亚当地方言里，这个名字是“美好事物”的意思。
འདི་ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡི་དང་མོ་ལོ་བདུན་རེད། མོ་རང་གི་ཡུལ་སྐད་ལཱོ་བྷུ་ཀུ་སུ་ཞེས་པ་དེའི་ནང་ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡིའི་ནང་དོན་ནི་བཟང་མོ་ཡིན།
This is Khalai.
She is seven years old.
Her name means ‘the
good one’ in her
language, Lubukusu.
卡莱早上醒来，跟橙子树说：“橙子树啊橙子树，快点长大吧，给我们结好多又大又甜的橙子！”
ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡི་ཡར་ལངས་ནས་ཚ་ལུ་མའི་སྡོང་པོ་ལ། སྐུ་མཁྱེན་ཚ་ལུ་མའི་སྡོང་པོ། ཡར་ཆེན་པོར་སྐྱེས་རྗེས་ང་ཚོར་ཚ་ལུ་མ་སྨིན་པ་མང་པོ་གནང་རོགས་ཞེས་ལབ་པ་རེད།
Khalai wakes up and
talks to the orange tree.
“Please orange tree,
grow big and give us
lots of ripe oranges.”
在卡莱走路去上学的路上，她对草地说：“草地啊草地，你一定要长得绿油油的，别干枯了。”
ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡི་སློབ་གྲྭར་གོམ་པ་རྒྱབ་ནས་འགྲོ་གི་ཡོད་རེད། མོ་རང་འགྲོ་ཞོར་ལ་ལམ་གྱི་རྩྭར། སྐུ་མཁྱེན། རྩྭ་ལགས། ལྗང་མདོག་ཅན་ཞིག་ཏུ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ་མ་སྐམ་པར་བྱེད་རོགས་ཞེས་ལབ་པ་རེད།
Khalai walks to school.
On the way she talks to
the grass. “Please
grass, grow greener
and don’t dry up.”
卡莱路过了野花，她对野花说：“野花啊野花，你们尽情地开放吧，这样我可以把你们夹在我的头发里。”
ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡི་མེ་ཏོག་གི་འགྲམ་ནས་འགྲོ་ཞོར་ལ། མེ་ཏོག་ལགས། ཡག་པོར་བཞད་རོགས། དེ་ལྟར་བཞད་པ་ཡིན་ན་ཁྱེད་རང་ངའི་སྐྲ་གསེང་དུ་འཛུགས་ཆོག་གི་རེད་ཅེས་ལབ་པ་རེད།
Khalai passes wild
flowers. “Please
flowers, keep blooming
so I can put you in my
hair.”
在学校，卡莱对操场中间的树说：“小树啊小树，快点长出枝叶吧，这样我们就可以在树荫里读书了。”

At school, Khalai talks
to the tree in the
middle of the
compound. “Please
tree, put out big
branches so we can
read under your shade.”
卡莱还对学校附近的灌木丛说：“灌木啊灌木，你们一定要长得壮壮的，这样坏人就进不了学校了。”
སློབ་གྲྭའི་ཉེ་འདབས་ཀྱི་ཤིང་ཕྲན་ར་བར་ཀཱ་ལཱེ་ཡིས། མཁྲེགས་པོར་སྐྱེ་སྟེ་མི་ངན་པ་ཚོ་འདིའི་ནང་ལ་འཛུལ་མ་འཇུག་ཅེས་ལབ་པ་རེད།
Khalai talks to the
hedge around her school.
“Please grow strong
and stop bad people
from coming in.”
当卡莱从学校回到家里，她又去看了看橙子树，问它：“你结橙子了吗？”
ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡི་སློབ་གྲྭ་ནས་ཁྱིམ་དུ་ཕྱིར་ལོག་སྐབས་མོ་རང་ཚ་ལུ་མའི་སྡོང་པོའི་ཉེ་འགྲམ་དུ་ཕྱིན་ནས། ཁྱེད་རང་གི་ཚ་ལུ་མ་དེ་ཚོ་སྨིན་ཡོད་དམ་ཞེས་འདྲི་གི་ཡོད།
When Khalai returns
home from school, she
visits the orange tree.
“Are your oranges ripe
yet?” asks Khalai.
卡莱叹了一口气：“橙子还是绿色的，我明天再来看看你吧！或许到了明天你就会给我一只又大又甜的橙子了。”
ཀཱ་ལཱེ་ཡི་ཡིས་དབུགས་རིང་ཞིག་གཏོང་བཞིན། ཚ་ལུ་མ་འདི་ཚོ་ད་དུང་ལྗང་ཁུ་རེད་འདུག་ཅེས་ལབ་པ་དང། སང་ཉིན་མཇལ་ཡོང་། དེ་དུས་ཁྱེད་རང་ཕལ་ཆེར་ངའི་ཆེད་དུ་སྨིན་ཡོད་ཀྱི་རེད་ཅེས་བཤད།
“The oranges are still
green,” sighs Khalai.
“I will see you tomorrow
orange tree,” says
Khalai. “Perhaps then
you will have a ripe
orange for me!”
