ကျွန်တော့်ရွာမှာ ပြဿနာတွေအများကြီး ရှိပါတယ်။ ရေပုတ်ပါမှာ ရေရဖို့ အရှည်ကြီး တန်းစီရပါတယ်။
My village had many problems.
We made a long line to fetch water from one tap.
အခြားသူတွေ အစားအသောက်လာလှူတာကို စောင့်ရပါတယ်။
We waited for food donated by others.
အိမ်ကိုလည်း သူခိုးကပ်မှာစိုးလို့ သော့ခတ်ထားရပါတယ်။
We locked our houses early because of thieves.
ကလေးတွေတော်တော်များများကလည်း ကျောင်းထွက်လိုက်ရပါတယ်။
Many children dropped out of school.
မိန်းကလေးငယ်ငယ်လေးတွေဟာ အခြားရွာမှာ အိမ်အကူအနေနဲ့ အလုပ်လုပ်ရပါတယ်။
Young girls worked as maids in other villages.
တစ်ချို့ယောကျ်ားတွေက အခြားသူတွေရဲ့ လယ်မှာအလုပ်လုပ်နေတဲ့အချိန်မှာ ငယ်ရွယ်တဲ့ ကောင်လေးတွေဟာ ရွာထဲမှာ လှည့်လည်လမ်းလျှောက်နေကြပါတယ်။
Young boys roamed around the village while others worked on people’s farms.
လေတိုက်တဲ့အခါမှာ စက္ကူအစုတ်တွေဟာ သစ်ပင်နဲ့ ခြံစည်းရိုးတွေမှာ လာချိတ်နေကြပါတယ်။
When the wind blew, waste paper hung on trees and fences.
စည်းကမ်းမဲ့ပစ်ထားတဲ့ ဖန်ကွဲစတွေကြောင့် လူတွေတွေများများ အရှခံရပါတယ်။
People were cut by broken glass that was thrown carelessly.
အဲ့ဒါနဲ့တစ်နေ့တော့ ရေပုတ်ပါမှာ ရေတွေခမ်းသွားတဲ့အတွက် ကွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ရေပုံးတွေမှာ ရေမဲ့သွားပါတယ်။
Then one day, the tap dried up and our containers were empty.
ကျွန်တော်ရဲ့အဖေဟာ တစ်အိမ်ဝင်တစ်အိမ်ထွက် ရွာအစည်းအဝေးကိုလာဖို့ ပြောပါတယ်။
My father walked from house to house asking people to attend a village meeting.
လူတွေဟာ သစ်ပင်ကြီးအောက်မှာစုပြီး နားထောင်ကြပါတယ်။
People gathered under a big tree and listened.
ကျွန်တော်အဖေကထပြီး “ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ပြဿနာတွေကို ကျွန်တော်တို့ အတူတကွ ဖြေရှင်းကြဖို့လိုတယ်” လို့ပြောတယ်။
My father stood up and said, “We need to work together to solve our problems.”
သစ်ကိုင်းပေါ်မှာထိုင်နေတဲ့ ၈နှစ်အရွယ် ဂျူမားက “သန်ရှင်းရေးနဲ့ ကျွန်တော်ကူညီနိုင်တယ်” လို့အော်ပြောပါတယ်။
Eight-year-old Juma, sitting on a tree trunk shouted, “I can help with cleaning up.”
အမျိုးသမီးတစ်ဦးက “အစားသောက်တွေစိုက်ပျိုးဖို့ ကျွန်မနဲ့ လာဆက်သွယ်နိုင်ပါတယ်။” လို့ ပြောပါတယ်။
One woman said, “The women can join me to grow food.”
အခြားသော ယောကျာ်းတစ်ဦးက မတ်တပ်ရပ်ပြီး “အမျိုးသားတွေက ရေတွင်းတူးပါမယ်လို့” ပြောလိုက်ပါတယ်။
Another man stood up and said, “The men will dig a well.”
ကျွန်တော်တို့အားလုံးက “ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ဘဝကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ပြောင်းလဲရမယ်” လို့ သံပြိုင်ညီ အော်လိုက်ပါတယ်။ အဲ့ဒီနေ့ကစပြီး ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ ပြဿနာကို ဖြေရှင်းဖို့အတွက် အတူတကွ အလုပ်လုပ်ကြပါတယ်။
We all shouted with one voice, “We must change our lives.”
From that day we worked together to solve our problems.
