Ma mákù kpǒ.

I peel the potatoes.

Ninamenya viazi.


Ma kábèjì rě.

I chop a cabbage.

Ninakatakata kabichi.


Ma káròtɨ́ fá.

I grate the carrots.

Ninasaga karoti.


Ma kaɨ́kó ojǐ.

I wash the beans.

Ninaosha maharagwe.


Ma úlújó olǐ.

I cut the butternut.

Ninakata maboga.


Ma sʉ̀kʉ̀mà wíkɨ̀ olíi.

I chop the spinach.

Ninakatakata sukuma-wiki.


Má àndrǐ nɨ mbásàlà olǐ.

My mom chops the onions.

Mama yangu anakatakata vitunguu.


Mbásàlà olízà nɨ fèe mâ míndre nɨ rà ra.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.

Vitunguu hunifanya nilie vikiwa vinakatwakatwa.
