Nkepacha mrungu.

Ninamenya viazi.

I peel the potatoes.


Nkeweawea ikabichi.

Ninakatakata kabichi.

I chop a cabbage.


Nkekura karoti.

Ninasaga karoti.

I grate the carrots.


Nkesanja soko.

Ninaosha maharagwe.

I wash the beans.


Nkeweawea matangu.

Ninakata maboga.

I cut the butternut.


Nkeweawea mboka.

Ninakatakata sukuma-wiki.

I chop the spinach.


Mama nakeweawea shtunguu.

Mama yangu anakatakata vitunguu.

My mom chops the onions.


Ili nkeweawea shtunguu mcheng’ele ikesokaa.

Vitunguu hunifanya nilie vikiwa vinakatwakatwa.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.
