Fanann mo dheartháir beag sa leaba go mall ar maidin. Éirím go luath, mar tá mise thar barr!

My little brother sleeps very late. I wake early, because I am great!

Is mise an duine a ligeann an ghrian isteach.

I am the one who lets in the sun.

“Is tú réalta na maidine,” arsa Mam.

“You’re my morning star,” says Ma.

Ním mé féin, níl aon chabhair uaim.

I wash myself, I don’t need any help.

Ní miste liom an t-uisce fuar agus an ghallúnach ghorm bhréan.

I can cope with cold water and blue smelly soap.

Cuireann Mam i gcuimhne dom, “Ná déan dearmad ar na fiacla.” “Ní dhéanfaidh mé, cinnte!” a fhreagraím.

Ma reminds, “Don’t forget teeth.” I reply, “Never, not me!”

Agus mé nite, tugaim beannachtaí an lae do Dhaideo agus Aintín.

After washing, I greet Grandpa and Auntie, and wish them a good day.

Ansin cuirim orm mo chuid éadaí, “Tá mé mór anois, a Mham,” a deirim.

Then I dress myself, “I’m big now Ma,” I say.

Is féidir liom na cnaipí a dhúnadh agus na búclaí a cheangal.

I can close my buttons and buckle my shoes.

Déanaim cinnte go bhfuil nuacht na scoile ar eolas ag mo dheartháir beag.

And I make sure little brother knows all the school news.

In class I do my best in every way.

Déanaim na rudaí seo gach lá. Ach an rud is fearr liom ná súgradh agus spraoi!

I do all these good things every day. But the thing I like most, is to play and play!
