Ngày nọ, mẹ mang về rất nhiều trái cây.
One day, mama got a lot of fruit.
“Khi nào tụi con có thể ăn chúng?”, chúng tôi hỏi. “Chúng ta sẽ ăn vào tối nay”, mẹ bảo.
“When can we have some fruit?” we ask.
“We will have the fruit tonight,” says mama.
Nhưng anh tôi, Rahim, đã tham lam nếm và ăn thử rất nhiều trong chỗ trái cây ấy.
My brother Rahim is greedy. He tastes all the fruit. He eats a lot of it.
“Nhìn Rahim kìa!”, em trai tôi la lên. “Rahim thật hư và ích kỉ”, tôi bảo.
“Look at what Rahim did!” shouts my little brother.
“Rahim is naughty and selfish,” I say.
Mẹ rất giận Rahim.
Mother is angry with Rahim.
Chúng tôi cũng rất giận Rahim, nhưng Rahim không thèm xin lỗi.
We are also angry with Rahim. But Rahim is not sorry.
“Ta nên phạt anh Rahim chứ?”, em tôi hỏi.
“Aren’t you going to punish Rahim?” asks little brother.
“Rahim, con sẽ phải hối lỗi đó”, mẹ răn.
“Rahim, soon you will be sorry,” warns mama.
Rahim bắt đầu cảm thấy không khỏe.
Rahim starts to feel sick.
“Con đau bụng”, Rahim thỏ thẻ.
“My tummy is so sore,” whispers Rahim.
Mẹ tôi biết chuyện này sẽ xảy ra. Chỗ trái cây ấy đang trừng phạt Rahim.
Mama knew this would happen. The fruit is punishing Rahim!
Lát sau, Rahim đành xin lỗi chúng tôi. “Con sẽ không tham như vậy nữa”, Rahim hứa. Và chúng tôi tin anh ấy.
Later, Rahim says sorry to us. “I will never be so greedy again,” he promises.
And we all believe him.
