Op een dag kreeg mama veel fruit.
One day, mama got a lot of fruit.
Wij vragen “Wanneer mogen wij wat fruit krijgen?” “We gaan het fruit vanavond eten”, antwoorde mama.
“When can we have some fruit?” we ask.
“We will have the fruit tonight,” says mama.
Mijn broer Rahim is gulzig. Hij proeft al het fruit. Hij eet er veel van.
My brother Rahim is greedy. He tastes all the fruit. He eats a lot of it.
“Kijk wat Rahim heeft gedaan!” schreeuwt mijn broertje. “Rahim is stout en egoïstisch”, zeg ik.
“Look at what Rahim did!” shouts my little brother.
“Rahim is naughty and selfish,” I say.
Moeder is boos op Rahim.
Mother is angry with Rahim.
Wij zijn ook boos op Rahim. Maar Rahim heeft geen spijt.
We are also angry with Rahim. But Rahim is not sorry.
“Ga je Rahim geen straf geven?” vraagt mijn broertje.
“Aren’t you going to punish Rahim?” asks little brother.
“Rahim, je zult er snel spijt van hebben”, waarschuwt mama.
“Rahim, soon you will be sorry,” warns mama.
Rahim begint zich misselijk te voelen.
Rahim starts to feel sick.
“Ik heb zo een pijn in mijn buik”, fluisterd Rahim.
“My tummy is so sore,” whispers Rahim.
Mama wist dat dit zou gebeuren. De fruit geeft Rahim straf!
Mama knew this would happen. The fruit is punishing Rahim!
Rahim heeft later spijt. “Ik zal nooit meer zo gulzig zijn”, belooft hij. En we geloven hem allemaal.
Later, Rahim says sorry to us. “I will never be so greedy again,” he promises.
And we all believe him.
