Tingi kɛ enaa hi shi.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Ekɛ lɛ kwɛɔ tsinai lɛ anɔ.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Gbi ko lɛ asraafoi lɛ ba.

One day the soldiers came.


Amɛkɛ tsinai lɛ tee.

They took the cows away.


Tingi kɛ enaa lɛ jo foi ni amɛyatee.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Amɛtee yɛ jwɛi amli kɛyashi nyɔɔŋ mli.

They hid in the bush until night.


Ni asraafoi lɛ ba ekooŋ.

Then the soldiers came back.


Tingi naa kɛ lɛ tee yɛ bai lɛ ashishi.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Asraafoi lɛ ekome kɛ enane ma enɔ, shi efee diŋŋ.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Beni jɛmɛ jɔ lɛ, Tingi kɛ enaa lɛ je kpo.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Amɛwamɔ kɛtee shia diŋŋ.

They crept home very quietly.
