Dawno, dawno temu, żyła sobie szczęśliwa rodzina.

Once upon a time, there lived a happy family.

Nigdy się nie kłócili. Pomagali swoim rodzicom w domu i w polu.

They never fought with each other. They helped their parents at home and in the fields.

Nie wolno im było jednak zbliżać się do ognia.

But they were not allowed to go near a fire.

Byli zrobieni z wosku, więc musieli wykonywać wszystkie prace w nocy.

They had to do all their work during the night. Because they were made of wax!

Mimo to, jeden z chłopców bardzo pragnął wyjść na zewnątrz w ciągu dnia.

But one of the boys longed to go out in the sunlight.

Pewnego dnia, pragnienie było zbyt silne. Jego bracia ostrzegali go…

One day the longing was too strong. His brothers warned him…

Niestety było już za późno! Chłopiec stopił się w gorącym słońcu.

But it was too late! He melted in the hot sun.

Dzieci z wosku były bardzo poruszone tym, co stało się z ich bratem.

The wax children were so sad to see their brother melting away.

Postanowili, że ze stopionego wosku ulepią ptaka.

But they made a plan. They shaped the lump of melted wax into a bird.

Zabrali brata-ptaka, wysoko, na sam szczyt góry.

They took their bird brother up to a high mountain.

Gdy wzeszło słońce, ptak odleciał ćwierkając w porannym świetle.

And as the sun rose, he flew away singing into the morning light.
